In a way I’m taking it back to some of my Jersey Girl roots. Although I did not grow up there, my family who did has had it influence over me. That’s right girls, the smoky eye, dyed hair, manicures, diets, overlapping accessories, and nail polish. The only thing Jersey that I will not get back into is fake tanning – but this will be hard. I love a good fake-n-bake in the winter. The feel of those glowing lamps showering warm radiation down on my bare skin at close range while I lay naked on a sweaty slab of plexi glass…it’s a hard indulgence for me to go without on a cold dark winter day, but I will stay strong (until summer comes around again – it’s about progress, not perfection, lol). Some of my other goals this year will be whitening my teeth, more laser hair removal, being more bold with my hair color, and getting back down to a weight where I can wear some of the more fun pieces of clothing I have collected over the years. I used to be bold with my look, but as I’ve gotten older I seem to have lost touch with that creative process of self expression that I used to draw so much enjoyment from. I plan to buy new body jewelry for my piercings…I am thinking gold instead of silver this time – and possibly a new tattoo on the horizon. I also think I may expore the dicey world of injectables...but that is a topic for another post.
In an effort to get a jump on the game, I got a full head of blonde highlights yesterday. What a loooong process…it’s been so long since I sat through a good foiling. The result was generally good, but also a reminder that I have to be mindful of the level of bleaching that I subject my hair to. I had a good base of completely un-dyed fresh hair to use, and even still ½ the hair that got bleached already broke off. The top looks pretty good, and the lightest, but it seems that most of the breakage came off the longer part of my hair, so the longer layers are still pretty brown which I am not too happy about. I expected a full head of highlights to be more evenly colored all around. But it’s a start… I have also currently started to research skin care product s and re-vamped my skin care routine. Hopefully in a few months I will have narrowed it down to the best products for my skin for the best price, and be set with a new routine for the next couple of years. Anyway, that’s my plan for 2012. Get hot again...or at least have fun trying :)
